Counselling and Couples Therapy in Maple Ridge, serving nearby communities of Mission and Pitt Meadows

I’m glad you’ve found your way here.

Counselling for trauma, anxiety, relationships, and life transitions. Support for healing past wounds, easing overwhelm, and finding your way forward. You don’t have to do this alone.

If you’re struggling with trauma, anxiety, relationship disconnection, grief, or navigating a major life transition such as early parenthood, midlife change, perimenopause, or menopause, I’m here to help.

With 20 years of clinical counselling experience, I offer more than talk therapy. My approach combines evidence-based methods such as EMDR therapy, attachment-focused work, and nervous system regulation with a deep respect for each person’s pace and story. Together, we create space to process what feels overwhelming, understand long-standing patterns, and move toward meaningful, lasting change.

When it feels helpful, our work can also include reflection on values, purpose, or spirituality — the deeper layers that often bring clarity and direction during times of transition.

I offer in-person counselling in Maple Ridge and online therapy across British Columbia. Many clients appreciate the flexibility of online EMDR sessions and are often surprised by how effective and comfortable they can be. Whether we meet in person or online, our work can help you steady what feels unsettled, understand yourself more deeply, and create the kind of change that lasts.

My Approach

When you feel safe, you can begin the real work of change and growth.

My counselling style is genuine, natural, and down to earth. I meet clients with warmth and authenticity, creating a space where you can exhale and simply be yourself. Many people tell me they feel comfortable and at ease early on, which matters deeply when you’re sharing the most personal and tender parts of your life.

With me, you don’t have to have it all figured out. You can show up exactly as you are. Whether that means laughter, tears, swearing, or silence, I’ll meet you there. I believe that when you feel truly accepted, supported, and free from judgment, real change becomes possible. From that foundation, we work together toward clarity, connection, and a life that feels more grounded, meaningful, and aligned with who you are.

My work is informed by an understanding of how attachment, the nervous system, and past experiences shape our present wellbeing — and how healing unfolds through compassionate, attuned connection.

Therapeutic Orientation

I draw from a range of evidence-based and integrative approaches to create a counselling process tailored to your needs. My work combines practical, research-supported methods with an understanding of how mind, body, and emotion interact in healing.

Therapeutic approaches include:

  • EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) : for trauma, anxiety, and patterns rooted in earlier experiences
  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy: for communication, conflict resolution, and rebuilding trust
  • Attachment-based and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT): to strengthen emotional safety and connection
  • Polyvagal-informed therapy and nervous system regulation strategies: to support resilience and emotional balance
  • Mindfulness, guided imagery, and clinical hypnosis: to calm the body and access inner resources
  • Depth-oriented and parts work approaches (IFS): to support self-understanding, integration, and personal growth
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT): to build practical tools for managing anxiety, mood, and daily stress

Why seek counselling?

You might be feeling anxious, disconnected, or weighed down by experiences you can’t seem to move past, even though you’ve tried to “just get over it.” Or you may be navigating a major life transition — adjusting to early parenthood, facing midlife change, or moving through perimenopause or menopause and finding that old ways of coping no longer work. Counselling offers a safe, guided space to understand what’s happening beneath the surface, make sense of patterns that keep repeating, and begin developing the awareness, skills, and inner stability to move forward with greater ease and confidence.

Please feel free to contact me and we can discuss your needs and reasons for considering counselling and see how I can be of assistance. Email Carolyn.

The most important factor in successful therapy is finding someone you feel comfortable and safe with. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation so we can talk about what you’re looking for and see whether it feels like a good fit. You can email me to set this up — I’d be happy to connect and answer any questions.
